Creating Realistic Wires using Adobe Photoshop - Part 4 The next step is to duplicate the layer.
Now select the duplicate layer. Click on filters, then blur, then Gaussian blur, then change the radius to 2.5 pixels. Click OK.
Next, with the duplicate layer still selected, go to filter, stylize, and click on emboss. Enter an angel of 120, a height of 3, and an amount of about 230%. You will have something that looks like this now:
Next, change the duplicated layers blending mode to 'hard light'.
Next, select the original layer that you duplicated and lock the transparent pixels.
Next, while still on layer 1, select the color you want your wire to be, and using the paint bucket tool color your wire. I used red in this example.
Next, hold down the CTRL key and click on layer 1. This will select your wire. On the menu up top, click on select, then inverse.
Next, press your Delete key. Then click on the duplicate layer and press delete again. This will smooth out the rough edges on the wire. When your done, press CTRL+D. This will deselect the image. Here is what your final product will look like:
