The torn and burnt look ( part 3 ) - Photoshop
Delselect the image ( CTRL+D ). Now we are going to select the image using the magic wand tool:
Then click anywhere on the image itself, selecting the image. Now inverse the selection ( select->inverse ) and press the delete key. Now we are going to repeat a few steps. Deselect the image ( CTRL+D ). Now using the rectangular marquee tool again, select the general area that you are working on again. Now apply the spatter filter once again, with a increased settings as below:
Click OK again. Now, back to the magic wand tool. Select the image once again, and Inverse the selection ( Select->inverse ) and press the delete key again. Now you should have something that looks a bit more defined.
Now deselect the image (CTRL+D) and click on the "lock transparent pixels" box in the layers menu:
Now you can safely fill the image with a color you want. I used a medium-light shade of blue.
