Yahoo!

Yahoo! is one of the oldest web directories and portals on the Internet today, and the site went live in August of 1994. Yahoo! is a 100% human edited directory, and provides secondary search results using Google.

Yahoo! is also one of the largest traffic generators around, as far as web directories and search engines go. Unfortunately, however, it is also one of the most difficult to get listed in, unless of course you pay to submit your site. Even if you pay ( $199 USD as of this writing ) it doesn't guarentee you will get listed.

Either way, if you suggest a URL, it is "reviewed" by a Yahoo! editor, and if approved will appear in the next index update.

There are no "secrets" to getting listed quickly. However, it is recommended you have a good, clean, unique site, that isn't adult related ( Yahoo! doesn't take adult sites ). When suggesting a URL, fill out ALL fields correctly, and try to suggest the URL to the best category you can find.

It can take anywhere from 1 day to 3 months or more sometimes, before a Yahoo! editor will visit your site to review it...thats if you don't pay the money...otherwise if you pay, its around 7 days or so.

Special notes
Yahoo! will pull its secondary search results using the Google database. Getting a good listing in Google will mean visitors from Yahoo! as well.
To suggest a URL
To suggest a URL in Yahoo, find the proper category and click on the "suggest a site" link at the bottom.
